Counselling and Body Mind Integration + Relationship Counselling Bath
Are you in need of help? Someone you can talk openly to about your difficulties, someone who is empathic, experienced, non judgemental, knowledgeable.
Could you benefit from a safe confidential place to work through how you are feeling, thinking and behaving ?
I have been a practising counsellor in Bath for the past 22 years. I am an Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) since 2001. I am committed to providing Counselling and Body Mind Integration in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I work in an interactive and collaborative manner which helps develop trust and provides you with information and insights that you can utilise to further help you address the issues you are facing. My short term therapy approach also has similarities to life coaching and solution focused therapy. My longer term therapy is more focused on you exploring the inner parts of yourself including your mindful aware self which is central, in my opinion, to being able to manage one's thoughts. emotions, behaviours and the different parts of ourselves. I am particularly interested in the Mind/Body relationship.
As a counsellor and therapist I work with both individuals and couples. I also use mindfulness and linked approaches such as Body-Mind Psychotherapy as a framework to help you become more aware and non judgemental of your thoughts, beliefs, feelings, behaviours etc. The past and our unconscious also can affect how we think, feel and behave in the present. I am skilled in helping you make sense of how the past and your unconscious could be affecting you in the present. The unconscious can also be represented by sensations and feelings in the body. From this place of non judgemental awareness changes can organically happen as well as changes you may decide consciously to make.
I am also experienced in relationship counselling in Bath working with couples and family members.
Below are some of the issues I work with on a regular basis:
Body-Mind Integration involves connecting with sensations and feelings held in the body and exploring these to see what links there may be to the cognitive mind and to unconscious thoughts, feelings and memories. This approach has links to the body scan used a lot in Mindfulness. EMDR can also be used to access unresolved trauma.
I also offer Mindfulness on a one to one basis as well as facilitating Mindfulness groups privately and for the Royal United Hospital Employee Assistance Programme. This is recommended on the Government NICE guidelines for the treatment of depression and in my experience it is also very helpful with Anxiety, OCD, Stress, Chronic Conditions such as CFS, Trauma and Addictions.
Family Constellations ( Bert Hellinger) is a powerful way to work with family dynamics and relationships as well as personal issues. I have trained in Family Constellations with Barbara Morgan UKCP registered psychotherapist and incorporate this approach into my counselling, couples therapy and family therapy work where appropriate.
I have been working with couples offering relationship counselling in Bath for the past 15 years I can help you and your partner understand the issues you have in your relationship and the roots of these difficulties. I am skilled at forming a trusting working alliance with both parties this ensures that both parties can be more open and honest about their feelings, thoughts and experiences. I can also help you and your partner to find ways to improve communication and rebuild trust and closeness if this is appropriate.
Clive really helped me throughout the 6 sessions that we had. I began the first session feeling completely lost, in a hole, where I was ensure how to get out and not self confident at all. By discussing with Clive how my situations have affected me and ways in which to deal with them and think differently. When it came to the sixth session, I felt a huge improvement and felt proud of how far I had come. I couldn’t recommend Clive enough, he not only is someone who could support me and really listened to my thoughts, but also gave me insight into how to think differently and tips of great books and articles that can help this process. Clive had great knowledge of all the aspects we discussed during the sessions and really helped to put the techniques on how to think differently about certain situations, into examples that were very understandable and assisted me to think in a different light. I truly am grateful of all of Clive’s help and genuinely believe he really helped me out of a difficult time. If you have not used counselling before and have doubts as to whether it would work, that is exactly how I felt and I can honestly say it’s the best decision I made.
