BACP Accredited 23 years experience Integrative Counselling
Are you in need of help? Someone you can talk openly to about your difficulties, someone who is empathic, warm, experienced, non judgemental, knowledgeable.
Could you benefit from a safe confidential place to work through how you are feeling, thinking and behaving ?
I have been a practising counsellor in Bath for the past 23 years. I am an Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) since 2001. I am committed to providing Counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
As a counsellor and therapist I work with both individuals and couples. I work in an interactive and collaborative manner which helps develop trust and provides you with information and insights that you can utilise to address the issues you are facing. By identifying and naming feelings and exploring where they come from you can calm your mind and body and find ways to reframe your thinking. I can help you to identify longings and needs you may be unaware of beneath your feelings by helping you develop embodied self awareness. This also can involve developing your witnessing self so that you can support yourself outside of sessions. I draw upon Neuroscience research to inform how I work and where appropriate to help you understand yourself more.
The past and our unconscious can also affect how we think, feel and behave in the present. I am skilled in helping you make sense of how the past and your unconscious could be affecting you in the present. The unconscious can also be represented by sensations and feelings in the body.
Below are some of the issues I work with on a regular basis:
I am also experienced in relationship counselling in Bath working with couples and family members for the past 15 years. I can help you and your partner understand the issues you have in your relationship and the roots of these difficulties. I am skilled at forming a trusting working alliance with both parties and this helps an open and honest communication of feelings, thoughts and experiences. From here, ways to change the relationship dynamic can be looked at through discussion and experiential exercises as and when appropriate.
Clive really helped me throughout the 6 sessions that we had. I began the first session feeling completely lost, in a hole, where I was ensure how to get out and not self confident at all. By discussing with Clive how my situations have affected me and ways in which to deal with them and think differently. When it came to the sixth session, I felt a huge improvement and felt proud of how far I had come. I couldn’t recommend Clive enough, he not only is someone who could support me and really listened to my thoughts, but also gave me insight into how to think differently and tips of great books and articles that can help this process. Clive had great knowledge of all the aspects we discussed during the sessions and really helped to put the techniques on how to think differently about certain situations, into examples that were very understandable and assisted me to think in a different light. I truly am grateful of all of Clive’s help and genuinely believe he really helped me out of a difficult time. If you have not used counselling before and have doubts as to whether it would work, that is exactly how I felt and I can honestly say it’s the best decision I made.
